(In Kannada : Bagalakote) is a town in the Indian located in northern Karnataka state. Historically, the Bagalkot was the capital of the Chalukyan Empire of South India under the king Pulakesi I who conquered and ruled the district in 550 CE. Bagalkot's taluk Badami remained the seat of the throne of the Chalukyas from 550 CE — 753 CE, when Chalukya king Kirtivarman II was overthrown by the Rashtrakutas.
Dasara, a festival of Karnataka, which is celebrated over a period of 10 days during the month of October, is a famous attraction for the tourists. Mysore is well-connected by road to Bangalore, Mangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Ooty, Kozhikode, Kannur and Panaji (Goa). Various means of transport are Bus, Auto Rickshaws and Tongas.
