Is one of the district of Karnataka State which is situated about 57 km north of Bengaluru (formerly Bangalore). The north-south National Highway NH-7 goes through the town, functions as the Main Street of the town, and is locally known as Bengaluru-Bellary Road or BB Road.
Chikkaballapur district is a home for many attractive hills and temples such as Nandi Hills, Kanakagiri and Ranganatha Swamy Temple and it is also known for the birth place of eminent engineer and statesman Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvarayya. Chikkaballapur is also contributes in the industrial development of Karnataka state which includes two industrial areas and four major industrial estates for Silk City project, BIAL investment region, Olympic standard sport village which has greater contribution to the economy of the country. The district is rich in agriculture, horticultural and livestock resources. As of the 2011 census Chikkaballapur district had a population of 1,254,377 with the density of 298 per square Km, roughly equal to the nation of Trinidad and Tobago.
