The project was undertaken in 1974, finished in 1987. The dam has a capacity of 4178 Mecum and a live space of 4115.25 Mecum of water. It has two generators of 55 Mega Watt, generates voltage of 11kv. The whole generator yield represents 100 Mw of power with 2916 Terminal Amp/unit with a line voltage of 110 Ki. They create around the range of 542 Million Units yearly. They yield four lines of the framework, are disseminated between the substations at Ponda and Ambewadi just as. It is a solid gravity dam with a stature of 101 m and breadth of 332 m with 3 spiral doors of 15m x 10m measurement and has vertical Francis turbines with a configuration leader of 72 m.
Supa Dam is the second as the biggest dam in the State. This 101 Mtrs high and 332 Mtrs in length cement gravity dam is constructed over the Kalinadi waterway in Joida Taluk of Uttara Kannada District, has a catchment region of 1057 Sq.KMs and the live space limit is 145 Tmcft. (Thousand Million Cubic Feet). Three spiral doors of size 15 x 10 Mtrs are given to control the surge release. The repository has two seat dams of length 705 Mtrs and 940 Mtrs.
