Zambian Tonga Ilala Baskets
The Tonga people of Zambia's Gwembe Valley have woven ilala palm baskets for centuries, displaced by the Kariba Dam in the late 1950s.
The technique
Hand-woven from ilala palm leaves, creating tightly coiled functional baskets.
