Denno

Denno is a talented Kisii soapstone designer and engraving artisan whose creativity brings beauty, character, and individuality to handcrafted soapstone products.

At Soapstone Gallery, Denno specializes in transforming already-carved soapstone pieces into distinctive works of art. Using a specialized engraving knife, he carefully draws intricate patterns, artistic illustrations, decorative motifs, and personalized names onto the smooth surfaces of the stone.

His work requires precision, patience, creativity, and a steady hand. Every engraved line adds a unique artistic touch, turning an ordinary carved piece into a meaningful creation.

Inspired by African heritage, nature, and contemporary design, Denno creates beautiful decorative finishes on soapstone bowls, animal sculptures, ornaments, keepsakes, and home décor accessories.

One of his special talents is personalized name engraving, allowing customers to own unique soapstone pieces created especially for them — thoughtful gifts for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, corporate occasions, and other memorable celebrations.

Denno's craftsmanship represents an important stage in the Kisii soapstone production process. While other artisans shape and carve the raw stone, his artistic detailing gives each finished piece its own identity and story. Through his work with Soapstone Gallery, he contributes to preserving traditional Kenyan craftsmanship while introducing creative designs that connect Kisii soapstone artistry with modern homes and international markets.
